Joseph Duveen might be the greatest art dealer of all time. He was neither an artist nor an art historian. Duveen was just a hustler.
One day, he noticed that Europe had tons of art and America had tons of money. So, the seventeen-year-old Duveen stocked up on a boatload of art in London and boarded a ship to America.
The trip proved lucrative—so much so that Duveen would spend the rest of his life carting art back and forth across the Atlantic.
