I'm actually not Spanish, but I was married to a Puerto Rican, and he told me that while standing in the grocery store isle, buying cleaning products:) I like what you said about experience and originality. I agree that's why the tough guys you describe are so appealing. My stories on substack are mostly about them--husbands, boyfriends, Bukowski, etc. Different from yours, but the same roughneck gems.
