Stephen King wasn’t always Stephen King.

Before King “made it”, he worked a teaching job for pennies on the dollar. By day, he taught high school English. By night, he pursued his dreams of becoming a novelist.

To say his writing room was humble would be putting it lightly. He had fastened together a makeshift desk in a closet that housed his washer and dryer. When it was laundry day, he could barely hear himself type.

One evening King wrote three single-spaced pages in a flash.

After reading them, he was disgusted. He tossed them in the trash and didn’t give them a second thought.
