Damn, just when I thought I couldn't love your writing more, you go and write about Cuban food and Eve Babitz! As a Cuban, you had me at the plantains, but Eve? God, I adore that woman. Her writing is so haunting and alive, messy and sensual, and so unapologetically her. She had a way of making you nostalgic for a life you never even lived. She didn't just write about life. She devoured it.
Why is it always the case that being unsupervised at a marble bar where they’ve mixed a martini and half forgotten you gradually becomes the perfect place to write?

Thanks for the trip, I’ll look for that diner. Enjoy Florida.
