When Kurt Vonnegut was fifteen, he spent a month working on an archaeological dig. One day over lunch, he had a conversation with an archaeologist that changed his life.
The archaeologist asked the young Vonnegut what sports he played. He told the archaeologist that he didn’t play any sports. But, he was in both the theater and the choir, and he played the violin, piano and took a few art classes.
The archaeologist was impressed, “Wow. That’s amazing!” Perplexed by the praise, Vonnegut backpedaled, “Oh no, but I’m not any good at ANY of them.”
